Default Using Track Changes - How do I renumber Footnotes in Document?

Hi,
I am using track changes in a word document and I need to delete one of the
footnotes. When I delete the footnote, why doesn't it renumber the other
footnotes automatically? Isn't there a way for the number to change without
going in and manually doing this?

Any help would be appreciated. I am using Microsoft Office 2003.
