Prints only color in a document, not the black/white
I might have missed it, but I still don't see which version of WORD John is
using. He said "MS Windows Home", but that is his version of Windows -- not Word or Office. The version of Office would be something like Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2000, etc. (and Word would have the same version number as Office). My only other suggestion would be to try a driver for a similar printer to see if that solves the issue... such as the EasyShare 5300, 5100, or the ESP 3. I presume that John has visited this site, specified the version of Windows (I'm assuming Windows XP... but I can't be sure, since I'm not familiar with any of the "Home" editions), downloaded the most recent drivers and tried them: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/servi...?pq-path=10624 -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Graham Mayor" wrote in message ... I don't think Vista will make any difference. I suspect that the problem is an adverse inter-action between Word and the Printer driver that will need a new driver to fix. . Without checking back through the thread to check, have you tried setting the font colour to black (as opposed to the default auto)? -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org John LLLIII wrote: Thanks, I had found that link and downloaded and installed both the firware mentioned and driver software. No Joy. I am completely befuddled. I cross posted this problem on the XP General Discussion under printers, but have not seen a response. That section looks like it is rarely visited, but I am hopeful. I am reluctant to upgrade to Vista but that may be my only way to resolve the problem. What do you think? John "Graham Mayor" wrote: OK - but I suspect you are not going to like the answer. Word can only format a document in a way allowed by the printer driver. The relationship between Word and the driver is much tighter than is the case with most other software. Check that the driver (and firmware) available on line at http://wwwuk.kodak.com/global/en/ser...dLang uage=en for your operating system match those that you have and if necessary upgrade. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org John LLLIII wrote: Sorry. safe mode. No difference. It is all documents. For instance when I try to print a document from Outlook all I get is the blue print. No black and white. It is not the printer. A full test of the printer, includint scanning a document and printing (local on this printer) prints B/W just fine. I have tried updating Windows again. No Joy. One of those was a Kodak fix which I also applied. I reset the system to an earlier date hoping to eleminate all updates, No Joy. Will try safe mode again but don't expect to see any difference. I have reloaded the Kodak driver. No Joy Updates something called Pdf 995 to version 9. No joy. I will do anything I am capable of doing but I have decades missing where computers never existed so I am behind the power curve understanding how all this stuff plays together. I appreciate the attemps to date. John "Graham Mayor" wrote: The particular questions we Is it just this one document? Or is it all documents? What happens if you start Word in Safe mode? Does it print okay then? I called Kodak product support and cannot get by the local support people to people who understand the hand shaking between Windows software and their Adobe easy share software. It looks like a windows problem. For instance, if I try to print a copy of this page using the printer icon on the header line all I get is the color, not the b/w text. I just did it and all I got was color. How can I get help from Windows people, or do I need to go out and by Vista????????? "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote: Is it just this one document? Cannot figure where the problem is or how to resolve it. I have a Kodak 5500 printer which has work flawlessly. It prints documents OK from other applications. Here is what it does. When I print it a document (one that I have printed in the past without problems) all I get is the words highlighted in color. The rest is blank. Hints; The only changes I have made to my system is to go to Chrome as a browser. Also, I recieved a excell document and opened it but did not try to print it. Any ideas? |
