Default Word 2000 inserting unwanted lines of system info

Every time one particular user creates a document and saves it, the next time
it is opened it contains something like the following:

Does anyone know why this text is getting inserted by Word? How do I stop
this from happening?

In the File Open dialog, change the "Files of type" dropdown from "Recover
text from any file" to "Word documents". See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/RecoverText.htm.

That was the problem. I didn't know about the Recover file type. Thanks for
the response and the link to the FAQ.
