Default Right click/open will not launch multiple files in word

Dear users:
Without previously opening WORD, whem I select multiple files through
explorer, then right click and choose open, NOTHING happens and word is not
lauched automatically opening the files.
If I do the same with ONE file, everything is normal and word is opened with
the file I chose.
If I open word and choose within word multiple files, they all open as they
should.
I have 2 GB RAM so it's not memory and some weeks ago everything was OK.
Please advice.
