Default 100% cpu usage

hi,

i'm writing a book in ms word xp, but unfortunately, it seems to be
suffering from the 100% cpu usage bug. this pushes up my system temps
significantly, but i can't be bothered to keep alt-tabbing away from word
while i'm typing.

is there a fix for this nasty bug? i have a feeling it may be the cause of
my bsod, which occurred as i was writing.

my system is a custom built one:
amd athlon xp mobile barton
abit nf7-s v2.0 tictac bios
ocz 1gb dual channel kit pc3200
seagate 7200rpm 120gb drive
maxtor 40gb drive
geforce4 ti4200 64mb
