Can you save a document out of Word 2003 into a .pdf format so Adobe Acrobat
programs can see it and print it out?

Word doesn't have this functionality - you need to purchase Adobe Acrobat
(not the free reader version) to convert documents to PDF format.

Word 2007 will have this functionality. The beta can be downloaded (for $1,
I think) until the end of October, I believe.

There are some free and shareware solutions that will do it, too, using Word
2003. I haven't used any of them, but many who have say that they work.

I have used PrimoPDF and it's quite nice. Especially for a freebie. It's
not a "Save As" kind of function, but "Print".
