Default Why is my text body doing a page break every time I insert a foot.

I am using Word 2003. Every time I insert a footnote, there is a page break
in the text. The footnote properly appears at the bottom of the page, but
there is a page break in the body of the text in the line before the
footnote, sometimes leaving a page with 2 or 3 lines of text and a footnote
of 2 or 3 lines.

Is there a change in the number of columns (requiring a section break)? If
so, see "Section break causes an unexpected page break in Word" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292074

Otherwise, see "WD2000: Footnote Moved to the Next Page" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=212071

There were no section breaks and no change in the number of columns. My
footnote did not move to the next page. However, I think that I have found
the problem - When I viewed normal, revealed formatting, and looked at the
footnote separator, there were several paragraph markings connected to the
footnote separator. I reset it and deleted the paragraph markings and the
problem seems to have gone away. Thanks for the suggestions.
