Default Search and Replace with Sequential Number

Hi

I'm sure there's any easy (ish) way to do this but I'm struggling and
would really appreciate any help.

I have a document that is exported from an Access Database.
Throughout the Word Document "#" characters appear.

What is need is something to find all the "#"'s and replace them with
sequential numbering.

I can't just use the autonumbering because other lines/entries get
picked up and I don't want those numbering.

Thanks!
TB

Default Search and Replace with Sequential Number

To replace all "#" characters with a sequential number, do the
following:

1. Insert a SEQ field by pressing Ctrl+F9. Word inserts field
delimiters, { }. Then type SEQ mylist. Press F9 to update. Copy the
field to the clipboard.

2. Press Ctrl+H to display the Find and Replace dialog box.

3. "Find what": #
"Replace with": ^c

4. Click Replace All.

5. Switch to Print Preview and back to update the SEQ fields.

Note: Make sure to try this on a copy of the document first, just in
case.
