Default Preview Word documents

In Office Pro 2003 I could preview the contents of a Word doc in File | Open,
or when clicking on the file folder icon. "Preview" was an option along with
Icons, List, Details, etc. This feature is not present in Office 2007 under
"Views". Under Organize | Layout there is a "Preview" option, but when I
select this option and then select a file the preview pane remains blank.

Is there a way in Office 2007 to preview files as described above for Office
2003?

Details: Office 2007 SP1, Vista Home Premium

The option is still present (and works) in Word 2007 running under Windows
XP; my understanding is that for some reason this doesn't work under Vista,
which has its own preview function.

Thank you. I'll use Explorer in Vista from now on to preview file content.
