Sequence command in a field
Many thanks to Jay and Margaret for your replies. I will try them out soon.
Brian "Margaret Aldis" wrote in message ... You could use a LISTNUM field for this. You need to set the format (the prefix [Q , the Arabic number format and the suffix ]) using Format Bullets and Numbering. Give the format a LISTNUM field name. The use Insert Field to get your first LISTNUM entered, selecting the format by name in the list. Finally you will probably want to select that field and make it an AutoText entry so you can enter it quickly in the document. If you prefer to use a SEQ field, you can use it to get the number and set up an AutoText with the prefix, field and suffix for quick entry. -- Margaret Aldis - Microsoft Word MVP Syntagma partnership site: http://www.syntagma.co.uk Word MVP FAQ site: http://www.word.mvps.org "Brian" wrote in message ... I have a document where I want to insert "[Q1]", "[Q2]" etc at selected points throughout. I would like the numbers to run in sequence when I have finished, but I will not be entering them in sequence. Is there some way of entering them so they put themselves automatically in sequence. I have looked at the Insert|Field|Sequence command, but I can't find an option which will achieve that. Is there a way of doing it? I am using Word 2000 on Windows 2000. |
