Default Date format in English

How do I get a date format that is in English rather than American? For
example Friday, 7th April 2006. At present I'm having to use Friday, 07 April
2006 and delete the zero add the 'th' and then remove the space.

See http://addbalance.com/word/datefields1.htm for information on the
different kinds of datefields and how to format them.
