How can I edit a table which has grayed out?
Are you saying that you are unable to select the table or even place the
insertion point in one of the cells? If so, the document could be protected. Do the following to investigate that possibility: First, if necessary, display the Developer tab (via Office button | Word Options, Popular category: "Show Developer tab in the Ribbon").
