when i try to exit or save word page I get an error messaage that it cannot
be saved because it already open elsewhere (Cocuments and
Setting\...Normal.dot)
and then it goes to the template file to try to save it there.

Sorry I have been out of the office. I did eliminate the temp files, but I
did not utilize the DOS command. It did help getting the error message, but
word will not open a document with the double click or open command most of
the time. It opens with a grey screen and then when I go back to open it
works fine. This does not happen all the time but most of the time.
