STYLE PANE -- HIDING MANUAL FORMATTING
Hi,
In Word 2003, it was possible to tell Word to show only styles in the Styles pane i.e. there were no entries for manual formatting amendments. In Word 2007, though, I haven't found a way to do this. Does anyone know of a way? Thanks, |

STYLE PANE -- HIDING MANUAL FORMATTING
Click the Options link at the bottom of the Styles pane, and clear all the check
boxes in the resulting dialog under the heading "Select formatting to show as styles". -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. STYLE PANE -- HIDING MANUAL FORMATTING
Hi,
These are grayed out in the document I'm working with but the manual-formatting entries are still there in the Styles pane. Am I missing something? STYLE PANE -- HIDING MANUAL FORMATTING
Maybe. Try first going to Office button Word Options Advanced Editing
options and checking the box for "Keep track of formatting". That should enable the entries in the options dialog of the Styles pane. Clear any that are checked. Then go back to the Word Options dialog and clear the "Keep track of formatting" box. If that doesn't do it, I'm out of suggestions. STYLE PANE -- HIDING MANUAL FORMATTING
I was unaware of the link between "Keep track of formatting" and the Style
pane formatting options; thanks for pointing this out. Enabling tracking made these options available. However, they're unchecked and the styles are still in the Style pane . . . A simpler (though also stranger) conclusion belatedly presents itself: someone has gone through the document I'm working with and manually given the styles names that reflect the formatting applied. Go figure! Thanks for your help. "Jay Freedman" wrote: Maybe. Try first going to Office button Word Options Advanced Editing options and checking the box for "Keep track of formatting".
