Default Why can't I delete a paragraph?

In my Word 2002 programme, there is no 'Delete' icon on the toolbars, nor is
there an option to add this button in the toolbar options. Nor can I delete a
highlighted paragraph, even by using the delete button on my keyboard. Why is
this & how do I put it right?

I checked that but no joy. I've now noticed that when I highlight the
paragraph & hit delete, a message comes up in the bottom left of my screen
(immediately above the "Start" button) which reads "Delete Block? No (Yes)"

Hi Daz,

In Tools=Options=General in Word turn off the 'WordPerfect' settings to remove that confirmation message.

I did that but no change. I don't understand where the delete icon went. It
always used to work until today!

I take it back. Just closed down & re-opened Word & the delete now works.
Thanks. Still no "delete" icon in my toolbars though!

Default Why can't I delete a paragraph?

If you are seeing delete confirmation in the status bar, then you definitely
still have one of the WordPerfect options checked (Tools | Options |
General). If you're not seeing the message but Delete just does nothing, do
you have Track Changes enabled?

If nothing else helps, open Tools | Customize and click Keyboard. Choose any
command and, in the "Press new shortcut key" box, press Delete on the
keyboard. If "Currently assigned to" doesn't show EditClear, then select All
Commands in the Categories list, scroll down to EditClear in the Commands
list, and enter Delete as the shortcut key.

As for the Delete button on the toolbar, I don't think there has ever been
on by default, though Cut is standard; to restore this, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...oreMenuCmd.htm. Note that in
Word 2002/2003, you can also click the arrow at the end of the Standard
toolbar, choose Add or Remove Buttons, then Standard, then Cut.

Default Why can't I delete a paragraph?

I too was having problem deleting anything, word, space or paragraph; I had
to go to edit and clear. However, when I went to Tools, Options, General and
un-checked the WordPerfect help block, it corrected the problem. (FYI, I am
working with MS Windows 2000, MS Word 2002)

Thanks for your help - it has been making me crazy for 2 months now!
