Default Word 2002 Acting STRANGE!

Hi all,

A friend just called stating that whilst in word (2002 on XP Pro) she hit
the space bar and / appeared. She thought a restart would solve the issue. On
reboot, she opened word and pressed a, but then azs cam up.

She then opened internet explorer and when she presses the 'down' arrow, the
page size changes.

I could only offer the advice that she may have a virus/malware and to do a
full system scan and try to reinstall office 2002.

Are there any other possible explanations such as this possibly only being a
Word issue?

Or is it 99.9% virus related?

Re-installing Office will not achieve anything useful and has no effect
whatsoever on Windows Explorer. Start with
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm and see where that
leads.
If she has a wireless keyboard - try changing the batteries. This sounds a
lot like a keyboard problem
