Default Office tools shutting down inadvertently

I don't know where to post this question as it affects most of the office
tools (including word) and also Windows Live Messenger. The files open, I can
work in them, but then after 2-5 minutes, the program closes by itself. It
started doing this about a month ago.

I ran virus/trojan/adware/spyware tests, but I wasn't able to find anything
odd. Anyone can help?

Thanks!

If this occurs with a range of applications then it is more likely to be a
hardware fault - eg a defective memory chip or overheating because the cpu
fan is either clogged up or not working. Windows Administrative Tools
Event Viewer may help narrow down the problem.

Goldust,

I have a similar problem, but isolated to Word2007. This keeps shutting down
and restarting... PLUS ... the mouse buttins (right and left) have stopped
functioning in the document, but work fine in the control centre at the top
of the application.

This all followed an auto-update a few days ago.

Has anyone got similar problems following this forced update? has anyone got
any suggestions as to how to fix it without backing out the original version
and reinstalling (my next move!)

many thanks
Rosie

Thanks. However, since it only affects Windows related programs (i.e.
netscape or other non-windows related programs works well), I tend to believe
that it is software related. Could it be due to a windows xp update which
would have created problems?

Hi Rosie,

Should you decide to reinstall, please let me know if it resolved the
problem.

Thanks!
