Word 2007 - 200 3Outlined Numbered Lists fno longer attached to St
I have numerous 2003 documents that contain styles that use outlined number
lists. Unfortunately when opening the documents in 2007 all the styles are no longer linked to the "outlined number list". If I modify the style, select format, numbering - the numbering and bullets window no longer has an "outlined numbered" tab available. This feature appears to have been moved to the Multi-level list tool, but this appears to mean I need to go an recreate my style and apply it throughout my document (and for each document). Surely this isn't expected of 2007 users? My other concern is backward compatibility. I have a very large user population with the majority still using 2003. By making this style change and saving it in 2003 am I going to screw the formating for 2003 users. Cheers |

To edit an outline-numbered list created in a previous version, place the
insertion point in a paragraph that has a top-level style applied. For example, for heading numbering, place the insertion point in a Heading 1 paragraph. Then, on the Home tab, click Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List. You'll see a dialog box similar to the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog of previous versions (and the instructions at http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html still apply). To increase numbering stability in Word 2007, you may want to create a list style whose levels are linked to paragraph styles; you can then edit a particular list by right-clicking the list styles (under the "List Styles" heading in Home tab | Multilevel List) and choosing Modify from the context menu. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Mark Sullivan" wrote in message ... Brilliant Stefan. Great advice. It certainly helped me solve my problem
although redoing the styles has taken some time. Appreciate you taking the time to respond. Cheers. MS |
