How do I remove "read only" protection from a Word (2003) document
Whenever I save a word (2003) document onto a disc it saves as "read only"
which means it is locked against editing. How can I prevent this, or at the very least unlock it when I open it? Under Tools there is no "unprotect document". What am I missing here; or am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks in advance for your help! Carol |

By disc do you mean 'removable' disc such as CDR?
CDR discs are always read only - and you should never save Word documents directly to them or you will corrupt the documents. ALWAYS copy to and from the hard drive and work from there. CD data is always read only - copy to the hard drive then from Windows Explorer right click the hard drive copy and remove the read only property check. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Carol wrote: Whenever I save a word (2003) document onto a disc it saves as "read only" which means it is locked against editing.
