Hi, Larry. I'd be interested in writing one, but I'm not sure where you
might be having difficulty. This is all I have so far: http://www.officearticles.com/word/c...osoft_word.htm But I do want to write an "extreme" tutorial on Styles. ************ Anne Troy www.OfficeArticles.com "Larry" wrote in message ... In reviewing problems that, users (including me) appear to be having, stems
from lack of a thorough understanding how to use Styles. Therefore, I'm looking for an in depth tutorial on Styles. My nemesis at the moment, is, creating Styles 1 through... and the mess I'm creating. :-) -- Thanks, Larry "Anne Troy" wrote: Hi, Larry. Anne:
http://www.officearticles.com/tutori...tyles_in_micro soft_word.htm We're actually desperately in need of a nice "what/why/how" on Character Styles, and your excerpt here does pretty well--except then you direct people to the instructions to create a paragraph style and I think that might confuse some? I would suggest you rewrite "create a character style" and keep it in the tutorial. and this (you might want to read this one first): http://www.officearticles.com/word/u...osoft_word.htm From article: I rarely use Add to template unless I am working on a document that was created from a template, and realize I forgot to italicize the font or something, but this does add the style to the template as well as the document on which you are working. Okay, I added pretty much the same content to both the "Understanding..."
and the tutorial. Don't hesitate to tell me other stuff we need, Daiya. Someone told me that there is NOWHERE online with (at least worth mentioning) Word videos. Do you know if that's true? Anne,
Charles guided me to, http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide...s.htm#Overview. Under Styles Scroll down about 3/4 of the way, When I attempt this Find & Replace exercise called, "Find and Replace Styles" I type in: Profitability Report Entire Firm Individual Departments Bankruptcy Corporate Health Care Immigration Trust and Estate Just for prqactice, I assigned, "Profitability Report" as Heading 1 and everything below that, I assigned headings 2, 3, or 4. When I attempted to change all other headings to heading 1, using this tool it responded with, "no changes made." Any idea what went wrong? I double checked my instruction format. -- Thanksagain, Larry "Anne Troy" wrote: Hi, Larry. I'd be interested in writing one, but I'm not sure where you might be having difficulty. Hi, Larry. I've done it up with pictures:
http://www.officearticles.com/word/f...osoft_word.htm I think what you're doing is unnecessarily typing in the text. You shouldn't need to do that unless you're trying to APPLY a style, and you should only do one at a time. Find will find a specific string of text, and it isn't clear whether you're entering ALL that text (in the list) at once or just one line at a time (which is what you should be doing). You're always welcome to send your file if you like. ************ Anne Troy www.OfficeArticles.com "Larry" wrote in message ...
