hyperlink reverting to relative path?
I believe this question is probably related to the issue described in
"hyperlinks in word" from 3/2008. I am using Word 2003 and have unchecked "update links on save" under Tools Options General Web Options Files. However, sometimes when I create a hyperlink (via navigating across the network), processing "looks" like it is building an absolute path but when I move the doc containing the hyperlink to another location, the hyperlink "changes" to show the new path - i.e. it's behaving as if the path I created were relative, not absolute. Others have seen this occur, too, but we have no explanation. Thanks in advance for any help. -- Jane |

I must be missing something...I don't see anything at the recommended site
that addresses this issue. -- Jane "Jean-Guy Marcil" wrote: "Jane" wrote: I believe this question is probably related to the issue described in "hyperlinks in word" from 3/2008. I think Jean-Guy meant that as an answer to another question in this same

I do not know how I read one post and then moved on to another and hit Reply while still thinking bout the first one... Sorry again. as to your question, I am afraid I do not have a satisfactory answer, and I believe no one will... As far as I am concerned, I have never been able to get to the bottom of this... All I can say is that I did the exact same thing after reading your answers;
luckily I caught myself, deleted the incorrectly directed post, and redid it. It's not that hard to do: you read a post, click on the next one and read that, think of an answer to the previous one, and absent-mindedly click the Reply to Group button. g -- Suzanne S. I think that I have prevented it by switching of the update on saving, but I don't understand why this particular update kept happening. Neither the document containing the links nor the documents linked to were moved, and yet Word was altering the hyperlinks such that they wouldn't work at all. |
