Is it possible to insert Viso files and PDF's into a master document in Word?

Thank you.

You can insert any object that doesn't span pages. Visio should not be a
problem. PDFs will only insert as objects if you have Acrobat 7 or later -
and then only the first page will insert, for the reason quoted in he first
sentence.

Don't use Word's master document feature. it is seriously flawed and will
sooner or later lose your work.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I will only be using master documents for small sets of documents that will
contain about 8 subdocuments, which will each only be 1 page in length. The
reason we are trying to use master documents is because we have a series of
word documents that need to have synchronous page numbers and easily be
printed from one file.

The other problem I'm having with master documents is one of my Word
documents contains a drawing canvas, with screen shots inserted inside it and
connector arrows. The arrows and the screen shots are visible in the the
Print Preview mode but do not actually print. Under Tools, Options, in the
Print Tab, I do have the check box checked to include "Drawing Objects".
Also, on documents with bulleted lists, in the Print Preview mode, the lists
are indented correctly but when the document actually prints the lists are
all aligned to the left.

I'm using Word 2003. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Donna

It doesn't matter how many sub documents you have. If you lose it through
corruption it's a lot of work to re-type it, so make sure you have lots of
backups. I would recommend making just one document containing the eight
pages.

The other issue may be related to the printer driver. See if there's an
update available.

I've given up on Master/sub documents too. I run my documents through the
printer twice - second time for page numbers.
