Default word 2003 has started self-deleting text as I type.

How do I stop the self-induced mode of Word2003 deleting text, when I make a
change in the document?

Watash,
Look at the statusbar at the bottom of the Word screen, do you see the
letters OVR in black, if so doubleclick the item. That should eliminate the
overtype mode, you can also stop it by hitting the insert key on your
keyboard.
