Default Web pages in Word 2007

Hi Preeto,

If you want to create and maintain a website you may want to look at software intended for that task. From Microsoft, for 2007 that
would include the MS Expression products at
http://microsoft.com/expression

Word first introduced the ability to create web page (HTML) files in Word v6(1994) by the use of the Internet Assistant Add-in.
This continued through Word 97(v8).

The first major change to that capability was to build in the capability starting in Word 2000(v10), targeted more to corporate
environments and with the idea that the only thing you'd need to know 'new' in Word to create a web page would be use File=Save as
Web page. This webpage gave information on creating websites for personal use and not much has changed in that respect

Unfortunately, for the typical end user, the web pages that Word produces, while they generally meet that goal tend to be very Word
centric so that you can run into issues with folks visiting your website with browsers other than Internet Explorer and/or on
dial-up connections. Word XP-2002(v11) added the File=Save As Web Page, Filtered to slim down somewhat to address that
shortcoming, but the folks who use web page creation tools that focus on that ability, which require some learning to use, don't
much like the pages that Word produces

For Word 2007, while MS didn't take out any of the end user 'save as' features of for web pages/HTML they also didn't do much in the
way of enhancing these (including not fixing known issues from Word 2003).

For Word 2007 you can add the Web Page Preview command to the Quick Access Toolbar by right clicking on the QAT (or using
File Button=Word Options=Customization) and adding it from 'commands not in the ribbon'
