Using a PDF to create a letterhead
Is it possible to use a letterhead page created in pdf as a letterhead in
word? Let me clarify. I want to produce a document, that has letterhead images att the top and bottom of the page, and also a background image. Trying to use the watermark for the background image does not work as I am not able to precisely place and size it in Word. So I was wondering if there was a way to do this using a pdf? Thanks |

Using a PDF to create a letterhead
There is no reason why you cannot use a combination of images in the
header/footer to create your letterhead? Set the watermark image (simply a pale graphic) to 'behind text' and you can place it where you want. PDF cannot be used for this. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org yvonne wrote: Is it possible to use a letterhead page created in pdf as a letterhead in word? Using a PDF to create a letterhead
Thanks Graham
This is how I tried to do it originally, but I don't see a way to exactly position the watermark. Am I missing something? Using a PDF to create a letterhead
Oh just read you're reply again. Yes this is what I have been doing up to
now. But it does not work very well. My image extends to the bottom edge of the paper (as it should), but now I can't put in a page break afte the image. Ideally I'd like to set it as a watermark and be able to adjust its position - is there any way?? Using a PDF to create a letterhead
Hi Yvonne,
It sounds like you're now entering you text in the header/footer area, instead of in the body of the document - that's why you can't move to the next page. If so, you'll need to cut the text out of the header/footer area, close the header/footer view and paste the text back into the body are. Using a PDF to create a letterhead
You are clearly not doing it correctly.
You can't have a page break in the header/footer? The page break occurs in the text view when the page is full! A watermark is simply an image (or images) in the header/footer view set 'behind text'. Any selected image set 'behind text' can be dragged anywhere on the page. Using a PDF to create a letterhead
Separate your images for top and bottom. Put these in the first-page header
and footer. If there is something that goes into background that can be put into a header or footer (even though outside the header-footer area); just make sure that it is formatted as behind text rather than wrapping. Try to get the original images rather than your pdf if you can. Take a look at: How to set up letterhead or some other document where you want one header on the first page and a different header on other pages. http://www.addbalance.com/word/headersfooters.htm This gives step-by-step instructions.
