Default Can I create a custom short cut to paste a specific phrase?

There are certain phrases I use repeatedly during the day. I'm wondering if I
can create a short cut to paste those phrases instead of retyping them
everytime.
For example Alt+R = Returning from abroad, Alt+L = Leaving to go abroad, etc.

You can't assign shortcut keys to phrases directly; you can assign shortcut
keys to AutoText entries, but for this application perhaps AutoCorrect would
be more appropriate. See these articles:
