Default organizational chart

Hi there

I am trying to create an organizational chart that does not have the same
layout as the options in the orgaizational chart options. Is there a way to
design your own chart or changing the design by dragging the boxes in the
charts provided.

Please advise.

Which version of Word could make some difference here...

If it's 2007 & you're using SmartArt Objects you are somewhat limited. You
can repositon the Shapes but the connectors will adjust automatically.

If you're using the Insert Picture Organization Chart (or Insert Diagram
-Organization Chart) feature in Word 2003 you can click the Layout button on
the Org chart toolbar & turn off AutoLayout. That gives you freeform
capability which can turn ito a real rat's nest f you aren't extremely
careful :-)

You can also use the AutoShapes tools in either version to design your own
from teh ground up. Almost any shape (not just Flowchart Symbols) can be
strung together using the Connectors - although you may have to contain teh
chart within a Drawing Canvas.

Without specific version information & intent it's difficult to suggest
anything more.

Thank-you! I am using 2003 - this all seems so complex I thought it would be
a simple thing.

I tried what you said- both ways are quite time consuming. Is there a
better program for this?

Visio is great for it but if you don't have it, just use drawing items and
be creative.
