Default FONT CHOICES ONLY SHOW SINGLE LETTERS

I am having problems with my font choices. It is only showing single capital
letters like R, L, etc. I already tried downloading again my microsoft office
2003 but didn't help. What do I need to do? Thanks in advance whoever can
help figure a solution.

When this happens with filenames, it's a result of having Word set to
(Windows 95) compatibility mode in Windows XP. Instructions from Office MVP
Beth Melton for correcting this:

To rectify:

- Locate WinWord.exe
- Right-click and select Properties
- Select the Compatibility tab
- See if you have a Compatibility Mode set
- If set remove the tick in "Run this program in compatibility mode"

Not sure if this might be applicable to the font list or not, but it's worth
checking on.
