Default can i go back to a file i saved previously before it corrupted.

have been working on a word document...for weeks, but hadnt backed it up...
thismorning it had an error, tried to restore..only got about 1/50 of
it..very sad..it has words tables and images(only small ones about 5)...is
there a simple way to restore it to a previosuly saved version but not todays
?
