Default Merge Fields in Text Box

Hello:

I am preparing Name Badges for a conference and using the Lable type of Mail
Merge. I have setup my Main document with two columns and three rows. I
need to have a banner at the bottom to which I can apply color because we
will have different colors for different attendees, such as MEMBER, GUEST,
SPEAKER, etc. My database (Word Table) document has the following fields:
NAME, First Name, Last Name, Education, Title. The problem is with the Title
field. I added a Text Box near the bottom of the cell so I could apply color
to it for the banner I mentioned above. When I toggle between View Merged
Data and the Field Codes, I notice that the Title field in the Text Box of
the Next Record is not picking up the correct data. The data from the first
record is being merged into the Text Box of the Next Record.

Does Mail Merge NOT work well with Text Box?

I would split the cell that forms each label and apply the colour to the
relevant cells.

Hope this helps.

Text boxes are not in the text plane of the document and the merge doesn't
see them. Use frames or table cells instead.
