Default Microsoft word suite purchase question

Some one here in my town claim they have a Microsoft word suite for
$63.00 it does not come in a box. It is not an oem according to
them. It does not come with manual. However, it does require
activation and comes with a product key. They claim to have Microsoft
certification and are a computer repair place

Does Microsoft sell them in jewel cases for less money?

No. Stay away from it as it may be a pirated version.

Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (also includes Microsoft Word)
http://www.microsoft.com/products/in...f7234&type=ovr

($99.95 - $20.00 rebate = $79.95) (excellent value)

And if you have kids or are a student/teacher, you may want to look into the
student/teacher edition of MSOffice.

(one line in your browser)

You may find it even cheaper at one of the big box stores (BestBuy???).

How could it be a pirated version from a computer place? They said the
got it from Microsoft. The company fixes alot of business computers,
so I would say it is reputable.

I called it Microsoft word. That was a mistake, I meant to say
Microsoft works suite. Which includes word plus works and other
stuff.

So my question should of been. Does or did Microsoft sell a
Microsoft Works suite in a jewel case? Maybe a msft can answer that.

And you can get it from Amazon (with free shipping) for even less. After the
rebate it comes to about $70.

Isn't Word in Worksuite, a bit different then the one in the Office 2003
versions, or the stand alone purchase version (Word 2003)?

No, it's either retail or its oem. There are no legal jewelcase-only
versions that are fresh from MS.

There's a chance that it might be legit. For instance, they bought it for a
customer, who then decided they didn't want it, so now they're stuck with
it, but for whatever reason the box/packaging got damaged or thrown away. So
now they're selling it to get back some of their money rather than get stuck
with it.

On the other hand, if they have a lot of these copies around, they are
probably pirated or illegal for some other reason. The fact that they claim
to have a MS certification (in what?) or that they repair computers doesn't
mean they're legit. There are plenty of repair shops that are more than
willing to sell illegal software, or that unknowingly buy illegal software
and re-sell it.

And if they repair computers, they probably also build them, in which case
they would have access to OEM copies.

Not exactly. The version of Word in Works Suite 2005 is Word 2002, but it is
identical to the version of Word 2002 in any Office Suite or standalone
Word. One actual advantage to this version is that it will run on some
operating systems that Word 2003 will not run on.

No, they're all the same program. The only difference is that Works
Suite installs an add-in for Word that completely bollixes several
features, so we recommend that you uninstall that add-in.

It looks to me like Works Suite 2005 is one version behind Office2003.

(one line in your browser)

But word2002 in works is the same as word2002 in OfficeXP.

Hi,

I am fairly familiar with Worksuites version of Word, and I know it is
version 2002. But, the differences I've seen is that with Worksuite, you
cannot add on Office Tools or Shared Features (at least AFAIR) with
Worksuites version of Word, like you can in an Office Suite (Add/Remove
Programs/Office/Add-Remove Features). I still have my Worksuite 2004, and
used that to upgrade to Office 2003 Standard. I know Standalone version of
Word (which is very expensive) can do this.

This company is reputable. I don't know why this company would sell
suspicious software unless they didn't know it was. This company
does a repair computers for business. They follow all Microsoft
Licensing practices. It is sealed in shrink wrap. I should of said
“the works suite” not the word suite. Maybe I should ask a Microsoft
sells rep. If they ever sold a works suite in a jewel case any
version. The told me it was not an oem. They said it was a retail.
