When the cursor is in a table cell, you should see the Table Tools tab
above the ribbon, with Design and Layout tabs under it. At the far
right end of the Layout ribbon, click the Formula button.

Hi

You can create formulas using Word but there are alot of limitations. You
might want to try "Formula Builder for MS Word." It has a free demo version
at most major software download sites.
