Thumbs up Answer: How do I write 2 as subscript in CO2? in MS

To write 2 as a subscript in CO2 using Microsoft Word, you can follow these steps:
  1. Open a new or existing Word document.
  2. Type "CO" in the document where you want to add the subscript 2.
  3. Place your cursor after the "O" in "CO".
  4. Click on the "Subscript" button in the "Font" group of the "Home" tab. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + =" to activate the subscript formatting.
  5. Type "2" while the subscript formatting is active.
  6. Click on any other part of the document to exit the subscript formatting.

Your CO2 should now display with the "2" as a subscript.

The method of subscripting the 2 in the carbon dioxide chemical formula
decreases the size of the 2 in addition to dripping it relative to the
font baseline. If you do not want the point size reduced, there are at
least two other options:

1. Use Equation editor or

2. Use the lower baseline command.

If you want more details about these methods, let us know.

Thutok,
For yet another solution, add a superscript subscript button to your
formatting toolbar, to do that click on the tiny little arrow at the end of
the toolbar (toolbar options), choose format and add/delete buttons, click
next to superscript and subscript, two buttons will be added. Now select
your text and click on the appropriate button.
