Default Word Freezes when saving

I have a particular word file that freezes up when I try to save it. This
also occurrs when, after 5 minutes, the auto save feature attempts the
action. There are no error messages nor any other dialog boxes that appear.
The document has no macros either, although everytime I open the document a
Security Warning dialog box appears suggesting that my document indeed has
macros. This however makes no difference, Macros on or off, has no impact.
I have copied the contents of the document to a blank file, renamed the file,
scanned for viruses and ran a detect and repair, but the issue prevails. I
have re-installed office 2003 twice, with no luck. The File is 26 pages, OS
is windows 2000.
