Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S (or click the little dialog launcher button in the
bottom right corner of the Styles group on the ribbon) to open the Styles
pane. Right-click the name of your Rlist style and choose "Add to Quick
Style gallery" from the menu.

Thank you for your response, but I still have a problem.
I open the Styles pane I do not see my new style, but when I click the
Manage Styles button at the bottom, I will see it in that window, listed
alphabetically. I can not move it to the Styles pane or the the Style
Gallery on the Home tab. It therefore can not be used by our users.

In the Manage Styles dialog, select the Recommend tab and change the
settings as required to increase the style's value and click Show to make
sure that it is displayed in the list. You can then add it to the Quick
Style gallery as Jay describes.

Also at the bottom of the Styles pane, click the blue link for "Options...".
If the "Select styles to show" dropdown is set to anything else, change it
to "All styles". Can you now see your style in the Styles pane?

If PA is creating a template to be shared with other users, she needs a
solution that doesn't rely on changing the setting in the Styles pane, but
that would at least make the style available to her to add to the Quick
Style gallery.

Default New Style

I apologize, but I am throughly confused.
The template I am creating is to be used by 11 individuals, 6 instructional
designers and 5 QA folks. I am still unable to move new styles to the Style
Gallery and I need to do so in such a manner that it can be deployed.
I have followed the suggestions of Jay. My new style is raked as "Last" and
the buttons to change the ran are all greyed out. Several rankings are in
the 60's and 70's and the buttons to change the settings are likewise greyed
out for these as well, but those ranked with higher rankings (lower numbers)
can be manipulated.
Deployment can be done via email or SharePoint 2007 Server.
I am totally at a loss.

Does your style also show "(Hide Until Used)"? Click the Show button and
then the Assign Value button should be enabled (though actually, I find that
it is enabled even for hidden styles in the Manage Styles dialog here). Is
your template protected in some way?

I'm not sure, but there is definitely something not right. Try starting in
Office Safe Mode (press Ctrl while loading Word) and see if you can open
your template and make the desired changes in the style that way. If so,
then there is something wrong with Normal.dotm, the Registry, add-ins, etc.

No luck, but my appreciation to you for your time.
I have passed this on to IT people who create our MSI files. One of the
problems is that the people who design installation packages are not heavy
users and make unilateral decisions based upon their own limited use.
In the mean time, I discovered that I could save as Style and accomplish my
short term goal. Attempting to solve a problem leads to learning another way
"to skin the cat" (no offense intended to you cat lovers out their)
