Default Paste Special Link Problems

Hi

I am pasting special link bitmaps from excel into word (2003). However a
number of these bitmaps have been deleted but the links are still being
reflected in the Menu - Edit - Links. I think this is slowing down the file.
(- you can try this yourself if you are unsure - copy table from excel and
paste special link into word - then delete the bitmap from word and you will
see in the edit links menu - this link is still listed.)

Is there a way to find out which links belong to the deleted bitmaps (that
are no longer on the document) or the links which are currently valid.

Any ideas appreciated - thanks in advance.

Regards,
Nav

Default Paste Special Link Problems

Hi Nav,

Hmmm, I'm not seeing this in Word 2003/Excel 2003. If I select part of a worksheet in Excel then in Word use
Edit=Paste Special=Paste as Link and choose Bitmap
as the format, then go back and delete the graphic from Word there is no entry for it in Edit=Links.

Default Paste Special Link Problems

Hello Bob

I did try it again and this time it does delete the link. However I have
some old files where this is not the case - eg. there are approx 10 bitmaps
but 30+ links listed. Is there any way around this to delete any that are
not being used on the document. I can send this across as an example if it
helps.

Thank you.

Regards, Nav

Default Paste Special Link Problems

Hello Bob

Sorry about this - but once the bitmap is format in layout in front of text
and then deleted the link does not delete with it.

Hence I have a file with 40+ links.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, Nav

Default Paste Special Link Problems

Hi Nav,

Do you have an Office Live Workspace/blog/web page or other site where you can post a document showing this issue that you can
provide a link to here?
