Copying/Pasting formatting
Where can I find (on Internet) the most comprehensive data on pasting in Word
2003 (XP)? I have a client whose Word 2K3 is no longer working properly. When they paste - even from identical formatting - from one document to another, when pasted into the destination doc, the formatting changes with to font, font size, etc. Even when there is no formatting of that sort in either doc - hidden or apparent. I need more in-depth, technical information, please, so I can figure this one out. Thank you very much! |

Hi ?B?Vi1nZXI=?=,
Where can I find (on Internet) the most comprehensive data on pasting in Word 2003 (XP)? I have a client whose Word 2K3 is no longer working properly. In this case, the style in the target document overrides the formatting coming in from the source document. If that doesn't describe what's happening, it would help if you give us a couple of examples about how things are changing. Also, try going over Edit/Paste Special. Look at what the default format selection is. And test what kinds of results the other formats give. Something else you can use to investigate the source of the formatting is the "Reveal Formatting" taskpane. That might give you some clues. Cindy, thanks...I know now I should have mentioned it in the original, but I
have already been through the Edit/Paste Special and the Reveal Formatting taskpane. What I am looking for are papers or documents (you MVP's are so wonderful at publishing informative and comprehensive MVP documents on the web) with the rules of how Word works, like Does Word usually take the formatting of the original or the destination file formatting when cutting and pasting? Is there an option that allows you to change that? Is there a setting that allows you to choose, when outlining, what your default choices will be? (They seem to change with each document), etc. I have used Word for many years, but am confused on some of these basic questions. Thank you so much for helping me! What default choices for outlining? Or, see if this page answers your questions: http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html DM |
