Default how to keep formating from linked excel doc to word document

I am having problems with a linked word (to Excel) document. When I up date
link all the numbers move down 1 line.

Hmmm. Try as I might, I can't clearly picture what your situation is. Linked a
Word document into Excel, OK.. (which version of Office, BTW?) As a Word
document object (a box "on" the Excel page)?

Where are the numbers to which you refer? In the Word document or in Excel?
Can you describe this aspect in a bit more detail?

I assume that content of the Word document has changed when you perform the
update? Does the object grow (or shrink)?
