Table of contents - random extra style
Why does my TOC keep including random styles when I don't want them? In
Options, a random style keeps on being checked - I uncheck it, then insert the TOC and the random TOC level is included in my TOC. When I go back to Options, the random style is once again checked. This is in Word 2003. |

Table of contents - random extra style
Styles are checked because they have an outline level higher than Body Text.
This cannot be changed for Word's built-in heading styles, but I believe it can for, for example, Title and Subtitle, which by default are Level 1 and Level 2, respectively. This is also discussed at http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm -- Suzanne S.
