Default Coloured background

I use MSpublisher to make posters, but I need to send them to people who do
not have MSpub.
I would like to set them up in Word (XP) but I am having trouble in having a
pastel background with a white text box in the middle.
I believe I can do the coloured background by creating a picture which is
the colour I need and adding it as a watermark. If I then add a textbox in
the middle would it be white?

Why don't you stick with Publisher and convert your posters to .pdf files?

Yes. You need third party software to do that tho. If you don't have Acrobat
(not just the free reader), I would recommend PrimoPDF, www.primopdf.com.
