Default Converted WP doc won't propagate lists

I received a contract from an attorney who crfeated it in WordPerfect
then converted it to Word. One of the many oddities in how it behaves
is that lists won't propagate. That is, if I hit Enter at the end of a
list item, it adds a Normal paragraph. In my own documents, this will
add a new list item.

Where is the setting to change this behavior?

If you're using an older version of Word, make sure the the WordPerfect
compatibility options (Tools | Options | General) are disabled. Also check
what the "Style for following paragraph" is for the given style.
