Default superscript or subscript

How do I set the height (or depth) at which a superscript (or subscript) will
be placed above (or below) the line?

Default

There is no way to modify the default superscript or subscript formatting.
You can format superscripts and subscripts manually by changing the font
size and formatting the font as raised or lowered.
