Default why are things underlined when saving word doc as web page?

When I save my Word document as a web page, things become underlined in black
that I didn't underline, nor can I un-underline. I keep going over my
formatting from paragraph to paragraph, and everything seems okay in Word,
but then once it's viewed as a web page, those stupid black lines are there.
I have some personalized styles and formatting in my document, but I believe
that I turned off all of the auto-formatting features. How can I fix this?

Hi Kitten,

What version of Word (from Help=About)?

Do you have a URL for a webpage that shows this behavior?
