Default Hyperlink to location in document on another server

If I have document "filename.doc" in the following location (Y:\folder\), how
would I link to a location within that document from another document. I'm
specifically referring to WORD, but hope it will work with EXCEL too. Can
you give me some idea how to proceed?

Thanks,
Barb Reinhardt

If you want to hyperlink to a place in a document then bookmark that place
and add the bookmark to the hyperlink.
If you want to hyperlink to a cell in an Excel sheet add the sheet and cell
number eg:

{ HYPERLINK "Y:\\folder\\filename.doc" \l "bookmarkname"}
{ HYPERLINK "Y:\\folder\\filename.xls" \l "Sheet2! A100"}
