I have just started to use Word 2007. Suddenly all my documents have lost the
TOC, Field codes and figure captions within the document. I have updated
these and then toggled back to show them correctly in the document, then
saved the document. But when I reopened the document to check them again,
they were all displayed in field code form. Has anyone got an idea wha has
haapened here please? Is there a switch that I need to turn on in Word for
all my documents to view correctly?

Display of field codes is an application (not per-document) setting. If
field codes are displayed in the window in which you open the document,
they'll be displayed in the document. There's a setting in the Word Options
that controls this, or you can just Alt+F9.
