Default Displaying Tracking Changes

When I make changes in a document, they show up in red, but the display on
the right side, e.g., "word" deleted, etc., doesn't show up. How do I turn
this on?

Tools, Options, Track Changes tab, Use Balloons (pick "Always," "Never," or
"Only for Comments/Formatting." This is good for Word 2002/2003, not sure
what version you are using (2002 is XP).
