Default Need to remove an index AND the field codes/special formatting

Is it possible to remove an index in a document, along with the special
formatting, such as field codes?????

Default Need to remove an index AND the field codes/special formatting

Yes. Delete the index by just selecting it and pressing Delete. Remove the
XE fields by displaying Hidden text, then using Find and Replace to search
for ^19 XE and replace with nothing.

how do I type that housetop symbol. I found it on symbols but can't insert it
or paste it. Ideas?

On US keyboards it's a shifted 6. Note also that anything can be pasted into
any dialog using Ctrl+V.
