Style should appear in ribbon when the cursor is on it
I'm now reviewing Word 2007. I must say that I find I spend too much time
looking for how to do things through several ribbons. I suppose I will learn it as I use it. The older versions had a simpler look and a configurable tool bar so I could have what I use right there all the time. I know there is a quick access bar but it cannot contain all I would like to see. I use user-defined templates and styles. I find this version more cumbersome than the last one for this type of thing. First, if you load a user-defined template the styles you have created for the template do not load into the style area of the ribbon - why not??? Second, if you go to the trouble of removing all the unnecessary default styles and loading in the ones you created it does not update the template. I had to open the template and make the adjustments there. The words defining the style in the gallery do not wrap so it is hard to read it... and if you put your mouse over it, it still does not give the whole description. When in the document and on a paragraph which has a style not in the active window it does not show. You should be able to see the style you are working with at all times. I'm thinking that MS has tried to accommodate desk-top publishing needs and has forgotten about the rest of us. We can also be accommodated through the use of templates if they are made easier to use than this version. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. Style should appear in ribbon when the cursor is on it
This does sound like a real showstopper to me, as I use a lot of custom
templates and styles. -- Suzanne S.
