Default How to remove an embedded font in a Word 2000 document?

In trying to open a Word document, I receive this error message "File cannot
be edited because it contanins a read-only embedded font."

You must be using Word 2003. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=827405 "You receive a 'This
presentation cannot be edited because it contains a read-only
embedded font' error message when you try to change or to save a
presentation in PowerPoint 2002 SP3 or in PowerPoint 2003". The
article addresses Powerpoint, but also applies to Word... when
you read it, just substitute Word where it says Powerpoint, and
document where it says presentation.
