Default large document hangs word

I have a 12 Mb word document that hangs up Word whenever i try to page
through, etc. If you do something like show/hide the whitespace at the bottom
of the page it will take a minute or more to "repagniate." It has a bunch of
embedded pics and Visio objects. Any ideas what I should try?

I feel your pain. I have had to work with 500-600 page docs in Word,
and it is painfully slow. All I can suggest is to split the document
up (which is what I had to do), or go buy a PC with a fast hard disk
and a fast CPU

Also, can you work with the doc while in "Normal" view? That seems to
speed things up as well

I have a Pentium III.
I will try to use Normal more often.
